C3 Talks Bulletproofing BCDR at Miami Event
Business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) took center stage last week in Miami during the grand opening of C3 Complete’s new iM Critical facility.
During a series of expert-led sessions, C3 partners and industry leaders weighed in on the many ways companies are struggling with disaster preparedness, and how to close these gaps and drive stronger resilience.
Among the key takeaways, business leaders are often less prepared than they think to withstand events like ransomware attacks, severe weather events and unplanned outages—suggesting MSPs and partners need to go above and beyond to help customers identify and close coverage gaps. Many companies today are operating under a false sense of security, with glaring blind spots in their BCDR strategies – particularly with SaaS data backups. Business leaders often mistakenly assume service providers will back up their data, when in fact they have shared responsibility models that require additional coverage.
According to Uptime Institute’s tracking of publicly reported outages over the last nine years, roughly two-thirds of incidents involved third-party IT and data center service providers like cloud and internet giants, telecom firms, and colocation companies. In one recent high-profile example, a global Salesforce service disruption led to an outage at five data centers, impacting numerous customers.
